Since 2014, Acorns has been making saving as simple as possible. The app has 4.2 million active customers, rounding up everyday purchases to turn spare change into investments. Acorns has built a trusted digital brand, and they tasked us with translating it into their first physical product – the Acorns Spend debit card.
Acorns Spend isn’t just another piece of plastic, but a tool that helps people to save and invest for the future. The look and feel of the card immediately reflects its unique purpose. We used tungsten, one of the rarest and heaviest metals, to give the card a surprising weight that feels solid in the hand. Its bright green edge and vertical orientation help it to stand out whether it's in a wallet or on a restaurant table.
While most bank cards arrive in a nondescript envelope, Acorns wanted the experience of opening the Spend card to feel more like getting a really great present. It’s another way to show Acorns customers that they’re part of a movement – one that helps them to save, invest, and spend smarter for a better future.
