Clarisonic
Clarisonic invented a whole new way to care for skin with its first sonic brush more than a decade ago. Today, millions of people use Clarisonic as part of their daily beauty routines. To improve and elevate the Clarisonic skincare experience, we worked with the company to design its next generation of smart cleansing devices—the Mia Smart and Mia Prima.
Our design process began with in-person observations and conversations with Clarisonic user types across multiple countries. Following initial research and armed with a heightened understanding of daily routines, usability challenges and brand perceptions; we set about iteratively developing, testing, and refining new product concepts. The result was a reorganized system architecture for the handle and brush yielding a distinct, elegant and approachable silhouette. The new product fits comfortably in all hand sizes, and works well for all face shapes and contours.
While advanced technology is what enables Clarisonic products, we strived to use design to establish Mia Smart and Mia Prima as products that produce a caring presence in daily routines. By reducing the number of controls and interfaces on the product, while packaging the product’s systems within an iconic and comfortable form, we were able to create a more intuitive, enjoyable and effective way to care for skin.
